As part of Virginia School Principal Appreciation Week, we are highlighting all our principals with a Q and A session to give you some more insight into who they are, and what they do. Please enjoy the following from Director of Head Start/Supervisor of Preschool Programs, Mrs. Dove;
What inspired you to choose education for your profession?
"In college, I started an after-school program for at-risk students near Buffalo, New York and it was the best 3 hours of my day, I knew in that moment that I was meant to be in education."
What do you most enjoy about being Director of Head Start/Supervisor of Preschool Programs?
"Each job change from teacher to director was increasing the ability to reach more families and support their child's kindergarten readiness. I also love being inspired by a teacher in their element making all the amazing connections and interactions with students."
What do you want your students to know about you or, in general, that you feel is important for them to know?
"I would like for my students and families to know that I believe families are the most important partner when it comes to improving outcomes for individual children, families, and communities. I will continue to work to set in motion for children and families a cycle of healing, security, stability, and future successes through all my days as Director of Head Start, Supervisor of Preschool Programs."
Tell us something about yourself that people would be surprised to hear. (Example, favorite food that people might not think you eat, hobby that you have that would surprise people, etc.)
"I love to golf!"
