Major Clarity

Students in the 7th and 8th grade have met with their school counselors last week and will continue to do so this week to begin their first steps towards developing an Academic Career Plan.  Fredericksburg City schools has purchased the program, Major Clarity, which allows students to explore careers and plan for their future by using their historical, present and future coursework to achieve these career goals.  The program is an excellent way for our students to understand how their academic achievements now can unlock opportunities for them in the years to come.  Parents will be receiving a copy of their child's Academic and Career Plan via email in the days ahead.  Please be on the lookout for the email from Major Clarity.  Should you have any questions about the program, please contact your child's school counselor.

JMHS Cheer Tryouts

Rising 9th grade students, it is that time of year again!  Cheer tryouts for James Monroe High School are May 16 through March 19 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. at James Monroe High School.  There will be only one tryout session for the school year.  You must have a current physical on file before you can try out.  Forms are available in the front office.  Students must wear plain white top and black shorts each day. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Silver via email or see Mr. Turner.

If you missed Teacher Appreciation Week last week, it’s never too late to show our Tiger Team how much you appreciate them. Drop a teacher an email or a note that says how much you appreciate their commitment to helping our Tigers learn.

Pop-Up Shop Vendor Fair-8th Grade Make it Your Business Culminating Project

We invite our FCPS families, Fredericksburg residents and businesses to join our 8th Grade Make it Your Business classes’ culminating project for the 2021-22 school year. Our students have worked hard learning the elements of business and entrepreneurship. Now, they are putting their skills in action by hosting a Pop-Up Shop (vendor fair) to celebrate small businesses and entrepreneurship here in the Fredericksburg area. The event will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2022 from 11am to 3pm, here at Walker-Grant Middle School. Our students are busy making products to sell to earn money for our WGMS Career & Technology Education program. Even some of our 6th graders are helping out with a seedling table (plants, vegetables/fruits and herbs), so you don’t want to miss it!

If you have any questions about the event OR you have a product/service to offer and would like a table at the event, please contact Ms. Sprow at: rsprow@cityschools.com or 540.372.1145 Ext 2202 by Wednesday, May 4th. As always, we thank you for your support in educating our next generation of local leaders
