Good Afternoon Tiger Family,
This is your Principal Mr. Ventura with your weekly update. As we approach the upcoming week, I would like to share a few important reminders and updates to keep you informed about the latest happenings at Walker-Grant Middle School.
-We will be sending out Interim Reports on Monday, September 11th. Please take the time to review these reports with your student(s) and reach out to their teachers if you have any questions or concerns. Your involvement and support in their education are greatly appreciated.
-Please note that Wednesday, September 13th, is scheduled as a half day for all students. School will be dismissed at 12:00 pm on this day.
-Tiger Paw Enrichment Academy will continue next week. If you have not already done so, please consider signing up your student(s) to participate. Transportation will be provided.
-Conditioning for James Monroe boys’ soccer has begun! Conditioning will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at JMHS, from 3:00 P.M. - 4:30 P.M. A sports physical is required to attend. Students will ride Bus I to JMHS for conditioning.
Come out and support our student athletes. This week’s sports events are:

The football team will travel to Caroline to take on the Eagles on September 12th at 4:30 p.m.

The girls’ basketball team will host Prospect Heights at home on September 12th, at 4:30 p.m.

The field hockey team will battle St. Patrick at home on September 13th, at 4:00 p.m.

The Lady Tigers will take on Locust Grove Middle School at home on September 14th, at 4:30 p.m.

*Reminder students are not permitted to stay after school to attend sports events unattended. Students may return to school to attend sporting events with a supervising adult. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
After-School Clubs:
Students are invited to begin staying after school for clubs on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month beginning 9/15. Student permission slips will be distributed tomorrow (9/11) and must be signed and returned to the front office prior to staying for our first meeting on Friday (9/15). FCPS International Food Festival:
We would like to invite you to celebrate with us during our First International Food Festival at FCPS. The event will be held on September 28th from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM at JMHS. If you would like to participate, please see the attached flyer.

Attendance is a vital part of your child's education journey. We kindly remind you of the importance of arriving on time each day. Your child's presence matters, and consistent attendance helps them make the most of their learning opportunities. If your child is unable to attend school due to illness, please remember to submit an online attendance note using the attached link.
Lastly, September is Attendance Awareness Month! So, remember Tigers, attendance matters because you matter! So, let's show up together! Please review the attached document to learn more about how consistent daily attendance is essential to student success.
