💜September is National Recovery Month💜
Our partners at the Rappahannock Area Community Services Board (RACSB) invite families and community members to join them for Light Up the Night with Purple on Tuesday, September 30 at 6:00 PM.
📍 Spotsylvania County Public Safety Building (9119 Dean Ridings Lane, Spotsylvania, VA)
This free community event will include:
✅ Mental health & substance abuse information tables
✅ Speakers and resources
✅ RACSB’s Mobile Recovery Unit
✅ Free Narcan/naloxone with training
✅ Purple glow lights to show unity and hope
Recovery Month celebrates the progress of those in recovery and reminds us that prevention works, treatment is effective, and recovery is possible.

Today, our adventurous 6th grade scientists collaborated with the Friends of the Rappahannock to learn more about our ecosystem! Students completed workshops and learned a bit about the vast history of the river and Fredericksburg! Let's congratulate our brave tigers 🐯

Yesterday, our amazing Lead Counselor Kim Cunningham and Mental Health, Wellness, and Safety Specialist Amanda Ball took to the auditarium to pass out #SuicidePreventionAwarenessMonth bracelets! In supporting our students, we want to remind them: they matter! 💜🐅

Yesterday, our 8th grade scientists tested applications of surface tension using paper clips, paper towels, and bodies of water! This lab was a testament to the rigor our students have been exemplifying! Go #Tigers 🐅

Tonight, we hosted Back-to-School night and had the pleasure of reconnecting with FCPS families! A week ago, our Lead Counselor Mrs. Cunningham and School Resource Officer Florio talked to students about responsibility, safety, and making critical choices! WGMS is #TigerStrong 🐯

This week our 6th grade scientists began studying atoms! Here are some models of their research on atoms, molecules, and compounds! 🔥 Keep up the great work Tigers! 🐅🐯❤️🔥

Please Note: We will be moving from daily updates to weekly updates starting next week.
Beginning Monday, September 15, Fredericksburg City Public School’s Transportation updates will be delivered through ParentSquare to bus route-specific groups. We created this mechanism internally and have tested it to be sure it works as designed. While we do not expect any issues Monday, there may be some as this is the first official roll-out. Our goal is to efficiently communicate with you.
All bus updates will be pushed as Alerts, which means all updates will be instantaneous.
Parents/Guardians and Secondary Students should expect to see a text message from 66458.
Please contact your child’s school if any additional recipients (Guests) need to be added to your child’s ParentSquare Alerts list.

Eyeing our string of accomplishments; faculty and staff supporting #NationalSuicidePreventionMonth 🚫, our wonderful multilingual students practicing noun matching 📚, and our tiger cubs using power tools in wood-work class 🪵! Happy First Friday 🐅

6th grade English classes participated in a gallery walk to prepare for their first novel Bud, Not Buddy. Students learnt about the Great Depression in support of this! And bonus: they got to use the new extended learning spaces! Major S/O to our young scientists too! 😝🐯

Whoa!? Have you EVER seen such ferocity and prosperity? This week, we've had the pleasure of welcoming our cubs back to their NEW home! The excitement is exuberant, and our students, prosperous. We're happy to start the year off with smiles! Go tigers! 🐯🐅❤️
