Interim Principal Wheeler's Weekly Update: 04/28/2025

Good evening, Hugh Mercer Families,

I hope you all had a chance to relax and enjoy the sunshine today! We’re moving into Week 3 of SOL testing, and we couldn’t be prouder of how hard our students have been working.

“Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.”

Let’s keep encouraging our students to give it their best—they are doing amazing things one step at a time!

This Week's SOL Testing Schedule:

Monday, April 28 — Grade 3 Math and Grade 4 VA Studies Make-Ups

Tuesday, April 29 — Grade 3 Math Make-Ups & Grade 5 Integrated Reading and Writing Make-Ups

Wednesday, April 30 — Grade 5 Science & Grade 3 Math Make-Ups

Thursday, May 1 — Grade 5 Science Make-Ups

Friday, May 2 — Grades 3-5 Paper/Pencil Testing & Grade 4 VA Studies Retakes

Please continue to help your child by making sure they get a good night’s sleep, eat breakfast, and arrive to school on time, ready to shine!

Patriot PRIDE & Behavior Expectations

As we get closer to summer, it’s important that we all work together to keep classrooms focused and positive. Please help us by reminding your child to continue showing Patriot PRIDE—being Respectful, Responsible, and Kind—each and every day.

Students who continue to meet behavior expectations will have the opportunity to participate in all of the fun end-of-year events like field day, celebrations, and more!

Talent Show Fun!

Don’t forget—our Talent Show is happening Tuesday, April 29, at 5:30 PM in the Hugh Mercer Gym!

  • Admission is free for everyone!

  • Pizza, popcorn, and snacks will be available for purchase.

Come cheer on our talented Patriots—we can’t wait to see you there!
