Principal Petty's Weekly Update, 05/19/2024

Good evening,

This is Marcus Petty, Principal of James Monroe High School, with important reminders:

  • As we enter the last week of school, please know that Monday, May 20, is a full school day. Tuesday-Friday will be half days.

  • The registration deadline for summer school is Monday, May 20. You can register by scanning the QR code located on the mailed summer school letter. Additionally, you can use the link located in a previously sent email.

  • All medications that are in the clinic must be picked up by an adult. The clinic will be open until 2pm this week for medication pickup. You may also pick up medications on June 5 from 8am to 1pm. After June 6, all medication will be properly discarded.

  • Parents, please take a moment to complete the parent survey here.

Last Day for Underclassmen

  • JM started regional play this week and started out with three solid wins. The girls tennis team defeated Culpeper 5-0 on Thursday and our boys and girls lacrosse teams triumphed over Mechanicsville. The girls won 18-9 and the boys won their first ever regional game by the score of 14-13.

  • On Tuesday, May 21, our girls tennis team will be hosting Meridian in a region semifinal match.  Also on Tuesday, our boys and girls lacrosse teams will be traveling to Hanover High School for their regional semifinal games.  Girls will play at 5:30pm and the boys will play at 7:15pm for a spot in the state tournament.

  • Our track team will be competing in the regional meet on Saturday, May 25, at Maggie Walker in Richmond, VA, with 10 athletes already qualified for state competition.
