This is your principal, Mr. Ventura, and I would like to share a few reminders about the upcoming week.
- Wednesday, December 6, is an early release day. Students will be dismissed at 12:00pm.
- School will be closed on Thursday, December 7. Students will resume their normal schedule on Friday, December 8.
Remember, our school day begins at 7:40am. But, if your student needs to be absent, use the link on our website to inform us. Attendance matters because you matter!
Tiger Paw Enrichment Academy
Tiger Paw Enrichment Academy will meet only on Monday and Tuesday. Please consider joining us for after-school tutoring. Transportation is provided!
Computer Science in Education Week
This week marks Computer Science Education Week! This year, students will focus on the Hour of Code where they will be provided opportunities to learn about coding and computer science. Please, reference the link in the email message for more information.
Upcoming VA Holocaust Museum Field Trip
Attention 8th-grade parents and guardians, as we prepare for the upcoming field trip to the Virginia Holocaust Museum, we ask that you please review the attached flyer with your student(s) about behavior expectations while off campus. Should you have any questions please contact your student’s English teacher.
UMW Academy of Technology and Innovation
All rising 9th-grade students have the opportunity to apply for the UMW Academy of Technology and Innovation regional lab school for the 2024-2025 academic school year. An Open House will be held on December 5, from 5-7pm. Register for the event ASAP!

Superintendent Catlett Seeks Scientists Writing Contest
Attention, 8th-grade students and families! Please consider participating in Dr. Catlett’s Seeking a Scientist writing contest. Winners will receive a one-year digital and print subscription to Nat Geo Kids magazine and be entered in a drawing for an iPad. Submissions are due no later than Friday, December 8.

Boys Basketball
The Walker-Grant boys' basketball season has begun! This week the team will battle in two games:
-Tuesday, December 5, W-GMS will take on Prospect Heights at 4:30pm.
-Thursday, December 7, W-GMS will play Locust Grove at home at 4:30pm.
