Tiger Paw Academy Tutoring
It’s not too late to sign up for after-school tutoring. Math, English, Social Studies, and Science tutoring is available Monday through Thursday. Permission slips are available in the front office.
Attendance
Remember, everyday counts, and consistent attendance is a key ingredient for success in school. With that said, please continue to partner with W-GMS to be Attendance Stars. To report absences or any attendance-related matters, please use the attendance note form on our website.
8th grade Course Requests for 2024-2025
Attention rising 9th graders, this week JM school counselors will be meeting with you on site to discuss course offerings and scheduling for the 2024-2025 school year. Over the next few days, we encourage all 8th grade students and families to explore the James Monroe High School 2024-2025 Course Catalog found on the link attached to this email message. If you have any questions or concerns about course offerings, please contact your child’s school counselor.
Valentines Dance
Students get ready for the Valentines Day dance sponsored by the Student Counsel Association. The dance will be held on Friday, February 9th, after school. There are only 300 tickets available, and they will be sold only during lunch waves. Tickets will be first come, first served. Ticket price includes entry to the dance and free snacks and drinks.
Track Team Tryouts
Try out for the Walker-Grant track team. Any 6th, 7th, or 8th grader who likes to run, jump, or throw is encouraged to attend tryouts, no experience is necessary. A sign-up sheet and informational flyers are in the front office and in Coach Slominski's room (236). You must have a current VHSL sports physical and the appropriate grades. Tryouts begin Tuesday, February 20th. See Coach Slominski in the health room if you have any questions.
Boys’ Basketball
Be sure to come out and support our student athletes this week!
-On Monday, January 29th, the boys’ basketball team will host King George Middle School for their 4:30 p.m. game.
-On Thursday, February 1st, our boys’ basketball team will travel to Culpeper Middle School to take on the Cougars for their 4:30 p.m. game.
Get Moving Night
This week, FCPS students and their families are welcome to attend the Get Moving Night, sponsored by the FACE Committee. The event will be held on Thursday, February 1st, from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m., at Hugh Mercer Elementary School. This free program is open to all ages. Come out and enjoy yoga, games, healthy snacks, and informational sessions. If interested, please register using the QR code found in the flyer attached to this message.
