Good Afternoon Tiger Family,

This is your principal, Mr. Ventura, with a few important announcements and updates for the week ahead.

With just nine days left, let's rally together for a strong finish to the school year. Encourage your child to stay focused on their studies and to uphold our school's behavior standards. Let's end the year on a positive note, celebrating achievements and supporting each other every step of the way.

Professional Development Day (Monday, May 13)

Reminder that this Monday, May 13, has been changed from an instructional day for students to a professional development day for faculty and staff. Students do not report. Looking forward to seeing everyone back on Tuesday, May 14.

Attendance

Even though there may only be a few days of school left, every day is vital for your child's success. Thank you for your continued support in ensuring your student is present each day. To report absences, continue using the Attendance Notes form.

Afterschool Tutoring

Please note that afterschool tutoring has ended for the 2023-24 school year.

Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month! Help us raise awareness by wearing green on Tuesday, May 14. All staff are encouraged to wear green and are permitted to wear jeans.

WGMS Cell Phone Policy

As we continue to focus on our studies, please remind your student that phone need to be turned off and away during school.

Student Devices and Chargers

All school-issued student devices will be collected on Tuesday, May 14, and Wednesday, May 15. Students will need to return both their laptop and charger. Please note that your device must be turned in to participate in field day.

8th Grade Glow-in-the-Dark Celebration

Thursday, May 16, is the date of the 8th Grade Glow-in-the-Dark Celebration. Please have your student return the completed permission slip to Mr. Padilla no later than this Tuesday to attend. Permission slips may be found in the front office.

Please review the attached response from WGMS Administrators to the Student Speak Out Event held on February 28, 2024. This document addresses student concerns and outlines our action plans moving forward.

2023-24 Parent Survey

As the 2023-24 school year ends, we would appreciate it if you would take a few minutes to complete the parent survey. Your feedback is incredibly valuable as we plan for the next school year. The form will close on May 31, 2024. You may complete one survey per school. Thank you in advance for your feedback!

FCPS Summer Programs

FCPS Summer Programs details are available on the FCPS website. Dates and times for these programs vary, so visit our site to access information about various programs.

Regional Library Summer Reading Program

The Central Rappahannock Regional Library's Summer Reading Program registration has now opened. The program will run from May 15 to August 15. Students will earn 1 point per minute they read and can redeem these points for prizes! Happy reading!
