This is your Principal, Mr. Ventura. As we start another exciting year at Walker-Grant Middle School, I’m excited to share updates on our new policies and procedures to maximize instructional time, reduce distractions, and keep students engaged in meaningful learning.
Transition Day and the First Day of School
School starts tomorrow, August 5th, with Transition Day for our sixth-graders. Grades 7 and 8 will have an extra day of summer to get ready for Tuesday, August 6th. On Transition Day, sixth graders will meet their teachers, experience new classes, learn our routines, and start the 2024-2025 school year with success! We look forward to seeing our sixth graders on August 5th and everyone together on August 6th to celebrate the new year!
New Start Time
This year, our instructional day will begin promptly at 7:35 am. Any student arriving after this time will be marked tardy and will need to be checked in at the front office.
Responsibility Centered Discipline (RCD)
We will continue our division-wide implementation of Responsibility Centered Discipline (RCD). Our school-wide foundations are attached for you to review with your child. Attendance
Regular attendance is crucial for academic success. Please ensure your child attends school daily and arrives on time. However, if your child cannot attend school, complete the attendance notes form on our website. Attendance link
