Good Afternoon Tiger Family,
This is your Principal, Mr. Ventura, with a few important announcements and updates for the week ahead!
It’s hard to believe we are already entering Week 5 of the school year. As students grow more comfortable in our building, it’s important to remind them that WGMS is a place where we stay focused, productive, and positive each day. With your support, we will continue building strong habits that help all Tigers learn, grow, and succeed.
Here’s a look at what’s coming up this week:
Transportation Update
Beginning on Monday, FCPS Transportation updates will be delivered through ParentSquare to bus route-specific groups. All bus updates will be pushed as Alerts, which means all updates will be instantaneous. Parents/Guardians and Secondary Students should expect to see a text message from 66458.
Grade Interims
Q1 Grade Interim grades will be sent home with students on Tuesday 9/16. Please review these reports with your student(s) and contact their teachers if you have any questions or concerns.
Back-to-School Night
On Wednesday, September 17, from 5:00–7:00 PM, we will be hosting families for our annual Back-to-School Night. On this evening, teachers will share course syllabus information, further explain the course curriculum, and answer questions you may have about what your student(s) will learn this upcoming year.
School Picture Day
Get ready to show your Tiger pride! School Picture Day is on Friday, September 19, and includes Fall Individual and Sports Pictures. Don’t forget to bring your brightest smile and have fun!
Responsibility-Centered Discipline (RCD)
Please review our school-wide foundations with your child. At Walker-Grant, we practice Accountability, Perseverance, Empathy, and Respect to guide positive choices and help create a supportive, inclusive learning environment for all Tigers.
Safety Drills
We will continue to practice safety drills this upcoming week. This will include lockdown and fire evacuation. We appreciate your continued support in speaking with your student(s) about the importance of these drills.
