Dear Families,
We are pleased to share that we have dramatically improved transportation times and consistency in recent weeks as we have successfully employed more bus drivers. These drivers are now on the road with new routes or are about to assume new routes in the coming weeks.
Beginning Monday, October 20, the Transportation Department will eliminate all double runs at Walker-Grant Middle School and all but one double run at James Monroe High School.
What does this mean for our elementary schools?
This important change will remove the daily delays that previously affected elementary school bus schedules.
There will be more timely morning pickups and afternoon drop-offs.
All but one bus will now operate on a single, dedicated route which will ensure more reliable service.
As these improvements take effect, please remember:
Updated route lists will be posted on the FCPS division and school websites (under Bus Routes button) on or before October 17.
Parents are strongly encouraged to download and use the My Ride K-12 app to view the most up-to-date bus location.
Students should be waiting at their stop 10 minutes before the assigned pickup time.
We appreciate your continued patience and support as we continue working to provide safe, efficient, and dependable transportation for all Fredericksburg City students.
As always, please call Transportation at (540) 372-1123 or your student’s school with any concerns or suggestions.
