This week, our WGMS Junior Chefs made crepes. They mastered the technique of pouring the thin batter into a perfectly heated pan and flipping each crepe without tearing it, creating a delicate, paper-thin, scrumptious treat. ❤️ We are so proud of them!

Yesterday, our wonderful Dr. Frye ran small math groups for our 6th graders in preparation of benchmark testing and SOLs! Go Tigers 🐯

Ms. Schneider and Ms. Rahn’s 6th grade Advanced English students wrapped up their Space Case novel unit with a student-led mock trial to convict or acquit the defendant Garth Grisan. Students constructed witness statements, gathered video evidence, and delivered opening and closing arguments, even consulting with lawyers from the public defenders’ office beforehand. It was project-based learning at its finest, showcasing real collaboration, critical thinking, and problem solving in action! A huge thank you to our guest judges, including Dr. Avington, and the 8th grade volunteers who served on the jury!

Don't forget about our PTO meeting tomorrow, March 12th, 2026! See you there 🐯

Student Spotlight ✨
Meet Javani Brown, a talented 6th grader with a passion for creativity.
Javani was inspired after seeing a cardigan on TikTok and decided she wanted to make one for her mom for Christmas. Using tutorials from TikTok and YouTube, she spent six weeks crocheting a beautiful cardigan made with four different colors. She even wears it to school sometimes and gets lots of compliments!
Javani first learned how to crochet when she was 8 or 9 years old, when a neighbor taught her how to crochet. That early inspiration sparked a hobby she continues to enjoy today.
When she attended Hugh Mercer, Javani even started a crochet club with her friend Scarlett, sharing her love of crocheting with other students.
Her creativity, dedication, and willingness to share her talents with others make this project extra special. Way to go, Javani! 🧶👏

Some recaps from Ms. Bonilla’s student run store! Students made products and then had “customers” shop a la tienda to buy products with prop currency! Students got to practice their Spanish speaking and customer service skills in real-life scenarios. GREAT job guys! 💕💕💕

More recaps from Jr. Chef club! Look at the technique these students demonstrate. It's amazing!

Our Tigers ended #BlackHistoryMonth with a bang this past Friday by honoring our esteemed Superintendent Dr. Marci Catlett with speeches and love! As we enter a new month, let's look to the history we've created as a pathway forward for the history we're creating! 🐯🖤

Sixth grade English took over the beautiful WGMS library to work on Space Case suspect character analysis, and we couldn’t have done it without Ms. Kingsley, Ms. Rahn, Mr. Horak, and Ms. Bullock. 🫶🏼🐯🖤

Fredericksburg City Public Schools will operate on a two-hour delay today, Monday, February 23.
