This evening, Monday, October 7, 2024, promptly at 7:30 PM, at James Monroe High School, the Fredericksburg City School Board will formally recognize and honor living legend Dr. Gladys West, for whom our new elementary school is being named.
In a historic move, the Fredericksburg City Schools Board chose on August 5, 2024, to name the city's third K-5 building Gladys West Elementary School. This the first school in the nation to recognize this great woman and her important achievements.

After reading Charlie and the Choclate Factory, students in Mrs. Moore’s Gifted Seminar class created their own candy prototypes and marketing strategies in hopes of winning the Creative Marketing position at Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory! They had a deliciously fun Friday and prepared for their field trip to Riverside Theatre to see a production of the novel they read. Have fun, tigers!





Starting on Friday, November 1st, all WGMS students will be required to use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) when accessing FCPS student accounts from non-school issued devices when outside of the FCPS network. A text verification code will be required to verify student identities in order to access these accounts. This will only apply when using personal devices and when outside of the FCPS network. Students will be setting up MFA during school in September and October.


Last week, the W-GMS family got together for a little healthy competition! Congrats are in order to the White Team for an exciting win against the Orange Team in our kickball game. We had such a great time competing against and laughing with one another. Tigers WIN! 🐯
